Decay Chart Generator
Do you want to know or have the need to determine the current radioactivity value of your source? Or do you want to determine your source’s remaining radioactivity? Eckert & Ziegler has an easy-to-use decay chart generator that will help you see where your source is in its lifespan and when your source will need to be replaced.
Radioactivity Unit Converter
Converting Curies to Becquerels and vice versa can be accomplished easily with the right tool. One curie (1 Ci) is equal to 3.7 × 1010 radioactive decays per second, which is roughly the amount of decays that occur in 1 gram of radium per second and is 3.7 × 1010 becquerels (Bq).

I just ordered a Peflexion flood source. Will the source crack, crease, flake, curl or tear over time?
No. The Perflexion™ active element material was custom-formulated for EZIP to meet the demands of years of use and abuse. You can fold, bend, crush and pull this material without deforming or damaging the source, and it will not crease, crack, flake or tear over time. In addition, the polymer “memory” ensures that the source will return to flatness even after being stored in a rolled configuration. EZIP has performed extensive fatigue testing on the polymer, and Perflexion™ shows excellent integrity and uniformity even after several working lives’ worth of fatigue.
Will my flood source come with the ProKase™?
Flood sources are not automatically shipped with a ProKase. Pricing for the ProKase is available. Send us an email or give us a call.
If I do not order a new flood source container, how will my flood source be shipped?
Flood sources are shipped in our six-sided lead Pb Shipper (standard rectangular floods) or our Pb Shipper-C (cardiac sized) floods. Both boxes are TYPE-A DOT certified.

How Long Should I Use My Source?
A radioactive sealed source’s recommended working life (RWL) is the manufacturer’s recommended time period within which the source design specification and integrity is guaranteed under normal conditions of use, safety being paramount. The maximum RWL for non-welded sources is two or five years depending on source configuration. Alternatively, the RWL will be approximately two half-lives if less than the two- or five-year options. For welded capsules, the RWL is 15 years or less based primarily on half-life.
Although EZIP sealed sources have been used beyond the RWL values listed below, doing so is not recommended. Disposal is recommended. The final decision on when to recalibrate/replace a source rests with the source owner. If a source shows visible damage (e.g., scratches or cracks), it should be leak/contamination tested and recalibrated or replaced as appropriate. The regulatory limit for leak test results is <5 nCi (185 Bq) for both alpha and beta-gamma activity. EZIP makes no expressed or implied warranties or guarantees about how long a source can be safely used because adverse source environmental conditions, improper use, or material incompatibility can affect a source’s appearance and/or integrity. It is the source owner’s responsibility to conduct scheduled source evaluations and leak tests using appropriate materials and methods.
NOTE: It is highly recommended to follow instrument manufacturers’ recommended replacement schedules, especially those replacement schedules less than the RWL, to maintain optimal instrument performance.
